Meet Our Equine Team
At Reining Free Ranch, our herd is more than therapy horses - each horse is a partner, a teacher, a companion, and a reflection of the heart of our mission. Reining Free Ranch was founded with the goal of honoring the work our horses do and celebrating the bonds they form with our people. We prioritize their health and well-being in the same way we prioritize quality of life for all who pass through our barn doors. Each of our horses at Reining Free Ranch carries a story of healing, purpose, and partnership.

Astro
Breed: Arabian

Astro “The Gentle Leader” is the steadfast leader and protector of our herd — reliable, consistent, and deeply wise. Once an endurance racer and western dressage competitor, he’s now found his stride in a gentler calling. As Sarah’s first horse, Astro taught all three of her children to ride and continues to guide countless riders toward courage and connection. He shines in our therapy program, steady as ever — a true father figure to all.
“He leads with strength and gentleness, showing that true confidence begins with grace.”

Sprite

The Rest of the Reining Free Crew
At Reining Free Ranch, every creature — from the tiniest honey bee to our snuggly barn cats — plays a meaningful part in the rhythm of life here. Each brings a special kind of connection, teaching lessons in patience, courage, and care.
The Chickens – over 30 chickens
Our flock of friendly chickens are the lively chatterboxes of the ranch! They fill the barnyard with cheerful clucks and curiosity, often greeting visitors at the fence line. The kids love gathering eggs and learning gentle responsibility through caring for them. Their simple routines remind us that healing often begins in the quiet, everyday moments.

The pigs are full of personality — playful, intelligent, and always up for a treat! They especially love pumpkins in the fall and belly rubs year-round. Their joyful antics bring laughter to therapy sessions, and they help children engage their senses while learning compassion and confidence through hands-on interaction.
The Pigs - Branch and Hamilton
The Cats - (Marshall, Ophira & Asher)
Our barn cats, Marshall, Ophira and Asher, are soft-hearted companions who bring warmth and calm to the ranch. Asher, with his silvery fur and gentle eyes, exudes peace and quiet affection. Ophira, his playful counterpart, keeps things lively with curiosity and charm. Marshall, out outstanding bar cat, always seems to show up exactly when he is needed with a loving purr. Together, they remind our visitors that comfort and courage can come from even the smallest, softest friends.

Our honey bees are tiny but mighty — a living symbol of teamwork, community, and creation. They quietly go about their work, pollinating flowers and producing golden honey that sweetens our days. Watching them reminds us of the beauty in balance: how something so small can make such a big impact. The bees play an important part in our ranch ecosystem and in teaching stewardship of God’s creation.
