Sarah Long
Doctor of Physical Therapy and Owner of Reining Free Ranch

 Sarah and John opened Reining Free Ranch April 2023. Sarah’s heart beats for children with disabilities and their families. As a licensed physical therapist and lifelong horse lover, she combines her expertise with the gentle guidance of her equine partners to create transformative therapy experiences. Sarah’s vision for Reining Free Ranch is grounded in faith, compassion, and the belief that every child can thrive when given the right support and encouragement. Sarah graduated from the University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical campus in 2016 with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy. She is trained in TMR tots, DMI Level 1, Infant sleep, and is a life-long learner. Sarah’s first horse owned is our beloved Astro, and dedicates her whole career to what she’s learned from his steady, faithful, presence.

John Kirby
Operations Ranch Manager, Physical Therapy assistant and co-owner of Reining Free Ranch

John ensures that the ranch runs smoothly and safely every day. From building fences, greeting families, and managing the property, he brings practical skills, dedication, and a calm presence to the team. His commitment to supporting the horses and the people they serve helps make Reining Free Ranch a place of peace, structure, and joy. John graduated from PIMA medical school with his degree in Physical Therapy Assistant in 2012 and has helped his community in profound ways healing from injuries, surgeries, and chronic conditions. We could not run this place without John’s steady head and caring heart.

Chelsea McGhee
Equine Health and Handling Specialist, certified in equine massage therapy 

Chelsea joined our team in July 2024 after meeting Sarah through a facebook post. Sarah saw Chelsea’s heart and compassion for the horses, and a sensitivity to their internal thoughts that are unmatched to most horse people. Chelsea’s focus is on the care, wellbeing, leading, and training of the ranch horses. With patience, skill, and a deep love for animals, she ensures that each horse is healthy, happy, and ready to provide comfort and guidance in therapy sessions. Chelsea’s gentle leadership helps both horses and riders thrive in a safe and nurturing environment. Chelsea recently became a certified equine massage therapist and has dedicated her career to helping keep the horses happy, who have healed her heart in profound ways.

Jenn Dalton
Horse Handler
 

Jenn is a life- long horse lover growing up riding horses. Jenn recently joined out team and coordinates programs, leads horses during classes, provides ministry support, and community engagement efforts, making sure that every participant and volunteer feels welcome and supported. Her energy, organization, and heart for people keep the ranch community connected and thriving, and she’s always ready with a smile or encouraging word.

Volunteers – Shout out to Roxanne, Maria, Jess, Jennifer, and Kim who consistently volunteer every week ; Our volunteers are the heartbeat of Reining Free Ranch. They help with horse care, therapy sessions, events, and much more, sharing their time, energy, and love. Every volunteer is a vital part of our mission, helping create an environment where children can grow, families can find support, and our animals can shine in their unique roles as teachers and companions.
